That’s why today, we’re going to help you boost your online sales giving you a few tips about the latest in online customer experience.

1. Chatbots

A chatbot is a software designed to simulate online conversations with humans.

They’ve been around since 1966, the year, Joseph Weizenbaum a researcher from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) created the software Eliza.

From there, a lot has happened. We’ve seen the creation of IBM’s Watson, Apple’s Siri, Amazon’s Alexa, Microsoft’s Cortana and various Facebook Messenger’s Bots. As the technology has been evolving, chatbots are being used to optimize customer service.

Chatbots can be used across various industry sectors and on e-commerce, they’re a key figure, since they optimize the sales process, reduce human workload and reduce costs.

Also known for being virtual customer support assistants, bots can quickly answer an array of customers’ questions, therefore, helping to increase online sales.

In cases where the virtual assistant can’t answer a customer’s question, a human customer service representative takes over.

Another great function of bots is to recommend gifts and products based on pre-determined questions.

2. Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning

First, let’s see the difference between the two:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI): Machines that are capable of completing certain tasks, mirroring human cognition.
  • Machine Learning: Branch of Artificial Intelligence. This is a method used to improve performance based on analysis of experiences over a period of time.

Chatbots are available today thanks to Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Incidentally, both technologies are a great fit for e-commerce which allows us to speak of boosting online sales.

With AI companies can work with predictive sales since they are able to analyze algorithms that capture consumers’ behaviors.

Suggestion mechanisms represent another possible use for Artificial Intelligence.

AI’s algorithms on search engines register critical details about what you’re searching and based on the algorithm’s results, an automatic suggestion is made.

Machine learning can be used to better understand your customer’s needs and offer them personalized solutions. Keep in mind that today, customers want to be treated individually.

3. Augmented Reality (AR)

Did you know that part of the reason why online shoppers abandon shopping carts is that they have a psychological barrier due to the fact they can’t visualize or touch the product?

This is where augmented reality comes in! AR technology combines the digital world with the physical world allowing you to insert digital elements into the real world.

In other words, it allows for a product from your online store to be inserted and viewed in the real world.

Therefore, AR brings tangibility to your virtual products. This makes it so online shoppers feel comfortable with what they are considering purchasing.

What’s even better is that with this technology, they’ll be motivated to continue shopping.
